2025 Statistics
FACTS & FIGURES

Gender Equality
As of 2025, women make up 38% of our workforce, a notable achievement in a traditionally patriarchal society.
For comparison, female employment in Zambia was only 4.4% in 2020, according to the World Bank.

Ethically Certified For 4 Years Running
We have been audited since 2021 and have just passed our third annual audit for our Nest Ethical Compliance Certificate.

Zambia
We are based in the small rural town of Mfuwe, in South Luangwa, Zambia.
We have two stores, one by the national park gate, and one at the airport. Our workshop is located in between.

Our Impact
Our home decor business is based in remote Zambia, on the doorstep of one the most beautiful national parks in the world, South Luangwa.
We do our part to help preserve the National Park, by donating to local conservation initiatives and supporting their incredible hard work.

Reinvesting in community-strengthening initiatives, and supporting wildlife conservation.

Ethically Made Home Goods
and we have the certificate to prove it
Our small handcrafted home decor brand is audited annually by Nest, a program launched at the UN.
Nest partners with interior brands like West Elm and Pottery Barn to implement Ethical Handcraft programming in supply chains.
This program is notable for its cultural sensitivity, risk mitigation, and focus on workers' rights, safety, child labor protection, fair compensation, transparency, and environmental care.
We are proud to say that we are an Ethically Certified business.

ECO HOME DECOR PRODUCTS

Hand Made Decor From Zambia
african home decor
Each of our home decor products is made by hand with respect for the environment and people.
From design to production, we minimise our environmental impact by sourcing locally, using sustainable materials, and repurposing waste.
What Goes Into Sustainable Decor
KEEPING IT SUSTAINABLE

100% GMO-free Cotton
GMO Free-Cotton is when raw cotton is grown organically, free of genetically modified seeds. We source from our nearest supplier in Zimbabwe, to reduce our carbon footprint.

Environmentally Friendly Paints
The paint we use is environmentally friendly, we present chemical documents during our Ethical Practise Assesments to certify they are safe to use and do not harm our environment.

Natural Batik Process
The batik process is 100% natural, it is made up of flour and water, and when it is removed from the fabric it either goes to our local banana paper factory or feeds monkeys if they get there first!

Zero Waste
We carefully calculate our products so that there is minimal waste during the cutting process. Any excess gets made into smaller products or get used for cushion filler.
Our paint is remixed into new colours and usually we are left with one small pot of grey by the end of the season, which we use to repaint signs or furniture.

"If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together."

Heart Of The Community
OUR WORKSHOP AND LOCAL COMMUNITY
Community is at the core of everything we do. Located in a remote region of Zambia, we believe in creating a sustainable impact through grassroots development.
We strive to strengthen our small, rural community by providing artisans with opportunities, creatively supporting conservation, and investing in local initiatives.

Our Journey So Far
THE STORY BEHIND TRIBAL TEXTILES
Support from our wonderful customers has kept our legacy going for 33 years.
With humble beginnings in 1991 on the banks of the Luangwa River, we sold handmade home goods to tourists passing through Zambia.
We have since grown into the small but mighty company we are today and with the addition of the online store, and wholesale, we can be found worldwide!
We are proudly one of the biggest employers in South Luangwa, employing around 100 staff each year.
